My Story
“I do this work because I get to serve people and provide for my family — at the same time.”
I wasn't taught how money worked growing up. Nobody sat me down and explained interest, or insurance, or why a Roth IRA matters when you're 22. Like a lot of people, I figured it out by stumbling.
I went to UNC, played football, and graduated with a sociology degree and not much of a plan. I cared about people — I just hadn't found the shape of the work yet.
Then I felt a calling into ministry. It was real and it was clear. But I also had a family to provide for, and conviction doesn't pay the mortgage. For a while I wrestled with whether I had to choose.
This work is the answer to both. Every conversation I have is a chance to teach, to listen, and to leave someone in a better spot than I found them — and it takes care of my family while I do it.
